If you have a Whale pump and it's leaking but you can't seem to find out where from , this may be the cause.

Note last picture shows the pressure adjuster on the back of the socket ( inside the caravan ).

Click on pictures to make them bigger.

This is what it looks like.

There are 3 screws holding the socket together on the outside of the caravan ( pic shows one of the screws ).

The screws look like this.

This shows the positions of the other screws ( 2 of ).

What happened was , when i went on holiday recently , the pump socket started leaking , it caused water to leak into the caravan through the pins on the back of the socket and also leak out the front of the socket , this happened mainly when the pump was running , but due to the leak the pump would run more often ( nearly all the time , constantly switching on and off ). I worked out that the upper 2 screws holding the socket together on the outside had lost their grip ( stripped threads ) , and this was causing water to leak past a rubber " O ring " seal that is located behind them . So to fix the problem i just changed the shorter screws for some longer ones. The pictures below show how the socket ( outside ) comes apart and goes back together.

Here's the old ( short screw ) and the replacement ( long screw ). Note the screw diameter is the same.

This is what lies behind.

The small red thing is the micro-switch.

This part goes into the hole where the micro-switch is.

The cap goes on like this.

The shaped white plastic ring with the holes in it sits on the cap.

And fits into here , when assembled.

This shows the main part being replaced ( note check the rubber " O ring " is
in place ) ( also note the plastic ring sat on the cap ).

Use your finger to hold the unit together whilest locating the screws. Also
note that i only needed to replace the top 2 screws , screw the
longer screws in slowly.

Picture of the inside showing the pressure switch adjuster. Note
newer adjusters may be a different colour , but would be roughly in the same
place on the back of the socket.

Hope this may be of help to some one.
